Sylvan Learning Center of Martinsville’s Boost Program Boosts Learning!


In recent months, Sylvan Learning Center of Martinsville has begun a new promotion, the “Sylvan Boost Program”. This package allows students to enroll in 36-hour increments at a discounted rate and with a high success rate of grade improvement. The Sylvan Boost has proved to be a success; as we’ve had several students enroll and increase their grade levels considerably. What we find with this program is the increased frequency of student’s attendance is monitored, they feel compelled to work through their program in an adequate amount of time and thus the reinforcement of skills is consistent along with the ability to retain information and push further into and above their grade level.  Having the student enroll in a 36-hour program and work through it in a timely manner; proves that these numbers can be increased dramatically.

As a part of Sylvan’s initiative to give back to the community; they have decided to continue their efforts in extending the benefits of this package by extending the program through November 30th, 2010. Director Drisana McFadden states “The Sylvan Back-to-School Boost program is a mutual benefit for our center and our students; it allows us to see their faces more often and thus, maintain consistency in their program and move adequately through their program […] We don’t have to worry about any lag time, because they typically attend four hours a week!” Sylvan goes on to discuss the importance of having a student attend their programs on a consistent basis, “Consistency is critical” states Director, Elesia James “If they come two times a month and don’t attend for a month straight, we can pretty much throw what we taught them out of the window and start over – a student has to have ongoing instruction to ensure that they retain this knowledge”.

The Back-to-School Boost program is a win-win for everyone, you save nearly $400 by enrolling, and your child gets the education they need to increase their confidence in school. “Thirty-six hours is our magic number at Sylvan, working in thirty-six hour increments is beneficial because at the end of each boost package we administer a progress assessment* to show you just how well this package worked!”, says Elesia James.

Among all of these benefits Sylvan wants to remind parents that Back-to-School season is just around the corner, it’s time to pick out new clothes, shoes, backpacks and school supplies. But don’t forget; as you outfit your child with the latest fashion styles; be sure that you prepare for a successful school year by meeting with a Sylvan Director to evaluate your child’s upcoming needs. Enrolling in a Boost program can help avoid the black cloud when the first report card comes out.
